ROTARACT CLUBS
Both Rotaract Club of Calcutta and Rotaract Club of George College conducted very innovative programmes during the year. Rotaract Club of George School of Law was established during the Centenary year. “Chhatrachhaya” a symbolic gesture of providing umbrellas to the LGBT community (truly commendable, do more on awareness guys) and “Bibleoteca” (library in a Govt. school). Taking us back to some of our childhood pursuits, a programme was organised in the form of board games’ competition! Appealing to gastronomic pursuits and aptly titled was “Food Vegas” a recipe contest, quite an evocative title, in that eating is really a gamble!! Suicide Awareness, Mom’s Day — what a sweet gesture — “Cut the Fear”, a self confidence building programme with Miss India 2019 West Bengal, Clothes donation, Debating, Bhasa Dibosh Extempore Speech Competition, Mahadaan Blood Donation Camp — A programme on Rotaract branding too. Raksha, a self defence training programme. These young folk are well and truly ‘in there’ — much kudos! Can’t stop clapping in appreciation!!
But for Rotary, these bright folk have provided extraordinary support during the, “Centenary Events Earthquake Week” of 30 Dec 19 to 5 Jan 2020! Very many of these superbly talented guys were detailed for logistics activity for ferrying our guests across the various event locations. Thank you Rtn. Sujata pyne for getting this band together. It worked very well, almost 6 Sigma. That Rotaract embodies empathy for fellow beings was amply demonstrated by one such member standing by with strong emotional support when one of our guests had fallen critically ill..duly recognised in a function.
